Crop Background and Variety Selection

Select cultivars for table, wine, raisin or processing markets and consider seedlessness, maturity, heat tolerance, cracking, storage and disease resistance. Use adapted rootstocks on soil-disease, calcareous or salinity-risk sites and plant healthy virus-tested vines.

Soil Preparation and Planting

Choose sunny, well-aerated, frost-aware and well-drained ground; test pH, EC, organic matter and nutrients before establishment. Match trellis, row direction, spacing and pruning system to cultivar, mechanization and yield target, with early focus on roots and permanent structure.

Nutrient Management

Base NPK on soil and petiole or leaf tests; avoid excess nitrogen that drives shading, vigor and disease. From set through berry sizing, monitor K, Ca, Mg and B. Use Calcium Amino Suspension and Boron Balance by diagnosis and stage; Humic acid supports the root zone but does not replace nutrition.

Irrigation Recommendations

Maintain moderate water after budbreak and avoid distinct water stress or wet-dry swings from bloom through berry softening to reduce poor set, small berries and cracking. Prefer drip irrigation adjusted to soil, canopy and weather; preharvest deficit should never become severe stress.

Pest and Disease Management

Monitor downy and powdery mildew, Botrytis, leafhoppers, thrips, mealybugs, mites and birds. Canopy ventilation, cluster work, sanitation, forecasting and natural enemies are the base; rotate locally registered products by resistance-management principles when needed.

Harvest and Post-Harvest Handling

Harvest by target Brix, acidity, color, berry size and market distance. Handle fruit in cool periods, avoid wet clusters, compression and sunburn; cool table grapes rapidly and maintain the cold chain, while keeping rotten fruit out of wine lots.
