Культура и выбор сорта
Match round, Nantes, cylindrical or long-root types to soil depth and market. Use short roots in shallow or heavy soil and long types only in deep, loose sandy loam. Select stable, uniform-color cultivars adapted to local leaf spots, root rots and nematodes.
Подготовка почвы и посадка
Use deep, loose, stone-free, well-drained sandy loam near pH 6.0-6.8; break hardpans and prepare a fine level seedbed. Never apply fresh manure before sowing. Direct-sow about 0.6-1.3 cm deep, keep the surface moist through emergence and thin to the target root size.
Управление питанием
Base P and K on tests and control N. Excess N causes excessive tops, hairy or cracked roots and poorer storage; inadequate K reduces root weight and quality. Incorporate humic acid root-zone conditioner evenly in low-organic-matter soil. Amino acid nutrition and seaweed support seedlings and stress recovery but do not replace NPK. Apply boron only from diagnosis.

Keep the seed zone continuously moist until emergence, then irrigate evenly and deeper. Do not follow prolonged drought with heavy water because roots crack and deform. Use smaller, frequent irrigation on sand, less frequent irrigation on heavier soil, and prevent standing water.

Use clean seed, rotate away from Apiaceae, control weeds and prevent waterlogging. Scout aphids, flea beetles, carrot rust fly, nematodes and leaf spots. Where nematodes are confirmed, combine rotation and organic matter with an integrated root-zone nematode program; at low pest pressure prioritize barriers, trapping and registered biologicals.
Уборка и послеуборочная обработка
Harvest when shoulders reach target diameter and color before roots become overmature. Loosen slightly moist soil before lifting to avoid breakage. Remove tops, grade, wash and cool quickly; near 0°C and high humidity extends storage, but prevent freezing, dehydration and mixing diseased roots.
